Sorry to cause all of this fuss and then not be able to get back on the site for a week. My info re Chalker having 51% comes from the Gatorz people who sponsor Dean.

Glenn said he has even had trouble being paid at times in 2005. They were hoping he would jump so that they wouldn't have to pay him out for 2006 so now they are hoping he gets another drive so DJR and the new team could share the payments.

Without wanting to sound rude seto18, they are very serious claims your making there!!

Also, I don't think it should would matter if Seton gets a ride for 2006 or not, he should be payed out for his 2006 contract reguardless of what happens!

I don't get this Gatorz thing [:I], I'v made the same comment elsewhere, WHY WOULD GATORZ BE UNHAPPY WITH WHAT THEY ACHIEVED IN 2005!! I talked to a couple of Gatorz people at Bathurst & they were rapt with the coverage they have recieved with DJR in 2005! Why wouldn't they[?] It's fair to say that they have recieved more tv coverage for far less money then main game sponsors Autobahn, Toll, Orrcon & several others!!

Rob,

I never said they were unhappy, although I don't thnk there is much love lost between them and Chalker. Chalker made the decision to hire Will over Dean because Will had the "right pedigree" (does that mean more money?).

I agree 100%, Seto should be paid out; a contract is a contract. No doubt they would have wanted a piece of him had he terminated it (and this was info that came straight from the horse's mouth - Seto and it was also mentioned in AA this week).

Sorry, just filling you guys in. I can only go by what I am told and most of it I probably shouldn't have heard anyway.

Gatorz are very happy with what they got for their money and they will stick with Dean no matter where he goes which means no Gatorz car next year for DJR.

As for Westpoint; yes I heard about the investigation stuff, but as has ben eluded to by others on this forum, they weren't happy with the way they were treated and maybe it was a mutual decision, but they left.

At the end of the day, I still wish Dick and the team the very best; the man is a legend, but I got the impression that there are a several unhappy souls in the team.[V]

Cheers seto18. So does that mean we will see Gatorz fairly well represented at GRM next year??? If so, that means another top shelf sponsor going out the back door with Shell & Fujitsu in the last couple of years..

On the Will Davison issue seto18, your not the first person to mention that Davison is bringing funds to the team next year. Myself, I personally doubt this & hope it's not true as Will apparently had several other options for next year, including A1, which you'd think he wouldn't have to pay for the ride!!

I think Dick can see the potential of Will Davison over Dean Canto. I could be wrong & let's put all this Chalker business to the side for a sec, but after watching the Bathurst telecast, they seemed to show Dick sitting with Will more than the other 3 drivers put together. Dick's not stupid, he's a smart man. Davison has the potential to bring DJR back to the top, he's marketable, fast & seems to have a good head on his shoulders to boot.

From the outside looking in, Canto seemed to fall out of favour with DJR after Sandown & Bathurst where he was comprehensively 'hosed' in the same car by Glen Seton. Maybe that SHOULD have been a deciding factor to give Glenn his final year in his contract & boot Steve instead. None of us seem to know. I do appreciate your obvious knowledge on the Seton & Gatorz issue & hopefully all will be revealed next week at the 2006 official launch!!

Being a Seton fan as you obviously are, we appreciate your continued input to this site when many Seton fans have left!!

Cheers!!

Interestingly , in addition to the buy your drive, tone of the last few posts , I heard that Gatorz are a DJR sponsor not a Dean Canto sponsor and will be staying put , I also hear that Grant Brought his sponsors from the Brutes series with him and that shored up his drive. Dean, apearently ,Is hungry for the main game in V8's, and was looking to move up which ever way he could.

Plenty of pressure on Dean next year as well TS-50! While I'm happy to see Dean get a main game seat for next year & I guess beggers can't be choosers, but the GRM Commies haven't exactly been the best of the Holden runners of late & I'm worried for him next year IF he doesn't come to grips with the Holden quick enough!! If he gets dumped again it could be curtains as far as his V8 career is concerned.

Let's hope he has a good season, even if he is driving for the dark-side!!

On the Gatorz $$$, many seem to believe that they will follow Dean next year & not stay with DJR but I'm not so sure.. Can you imagine the potential for Gatorz next year with DJR if James Moffat is confirmed as the driver of #71 for the Development Series next year!!

It could be a huge marketing coup for Gatorz & DJR especially if they are the class of the field as they were this year!!

Time will tell I suppose...........

Quite right Rob18 , Dean doesn't get a real good seat either ,The car hasn't been that fast and probably will take some time to get sorted, plus ; a few of the recent departing drivers from GRM, say the man is very hard to work with.
I'm sticking with the Gatorz to stay with DJR agruement, you're right on when you say that they've had great exposure for thier brand, probably way beyond thier marketing annalysis would have predicted , But hell those little sunies are expensive.

I even tried to trade my Oakey's ;)for a pair of Gatorz at Bathurst they were that expensive. No point me spending that much on sunnies anyway as I'd only find some way to loose or break them.:D:D
