you have to wonder just how much telemetry they have being collected , to know that Tander was trying to do a hand brake turn (to assist the angle for the flick spin)[crackup]

They showed the incar footage during the telecast. One of the other teams must of seen it and dobbed him in... :D

Janes penalty was bullshit gerry! Utter bullshit

Just watched yesterdays race this evening. Gotta disagree with you mate. I think it was a fair penalty.

For mine, the thing that screwed James' race was the fact that it took 12 laps to give him the drive-through. James was therefore called in during a safety car so he had to wait until race conditions to serve the penalty. Utter shite!!!

I also can't believe that Will Davison just stopped his car up against the pit wall when the engine lunched istelf. He could have almost driven straight into the pits or even pulled off to the left or right but he chose to stop it in a precarious spot to guarantee a safety car for Tander who was further down the pack. Disgraceful....

Two top observations there Rob17. I agree with you on both counts. I must say that Tander's two grid penalty for using the hand brake was a bit soft though... [jk] In my opinion they should of taken away his fastest time.

If Tander using the handbrake saves his team thousands of $$$ then where's the problem.....I'ts not like he hurt anyone

P.S Not that i'm defending the [jk] but if it were anyone else i would also say the same thing. Aahh except for the Kelly girls though

Hanbrake rule is B.S. if someone wants to reef it and drift so be it. I think it is about time they had more tyre stops and stop everyone pussy footing around driving straight. Give them compulsory 4 tyre stops and tell em to go nuts. Everyone has to be carefull of tyre life. It is also boring as bat shit when the cars are so damn equal. PArity is out of control. follow the leader yay

It's strange that you're not alowed to use the handbrake turn, really, I can understand the no reverse gear in Pit lane rule, but being stuck in the middle of the track trying to do a three point turn could potentially stuff up a lot more eaces than your own by using it. Over regulated and boring? yep, . . . . [rt]

During the Seven broardcast Crompton said drivers sometime use the handbreak to aid in turning the car in.

I have to pull it of the HD and post it....Eventually.

I agree with you about Will's positioning mate, and the heap of time after James incident before the penalty was imposed.....Ask Tiff...I predicted they'd pin him the sec it happened.

I might be wrong in my interpretation of the rules, but don't you get a penalty if you deliberately punt someone for advantage.? or can you go just for bad luck....if you have a good look at it, I can't see that was deliberate. Besides that (and I am not asking schenkin to read minds now) I think James has demonstrated a levelheadedness this year that he wouldn't do something so stupid. I call it a race incident....it was wet...they both outbraked one another, and James had nowhere to go...

Maybe I got the Jim Beam goggles on [sc][crackup]

Tim Schencken can't even see past the nose on his face so hows he expected to read one's mind.:D

There should be a rule in place for the stewards ruling on drive through's and that is if they are going to give a driver a pit lane drive through then it has to be issued within say three laps or any such penalty should be held over till the end of the race and then sorted out.

These championship levelers they are giving James are just ****** up the series and most peoples interest in the sport er. sorry business.

Apparently McConville punting Brabham into the wall and destroying the car on the Gold Coast wasn't an issue....

No wonder Tander never complained obout his 2 place grid penalty.

“I didn’t know that (rule) existed,” he said. “The penalty I thought was pretty fair actually, to be honest, given that what the penalty is in the rule book.”
V8 Supercar rules state a car’s handbrake, which is operated on the steering wheel by an on/off switch, must not be used for anything other than stopping the car rolling from the start line.
The rule is in place to stop drivers from using the handbrake through corners to gain an advantage during a race.
Although Tander could have been excluded from the session, stewards imposed a much lighter penalty of two grid positions for the Sunday race.
“We got a very fair hearing; we went through it all with Peter (IPO Peter Wollerman) and he was very, very good about it all,” GT said.

ok, what woulda happened if James did it??

I am not a Tander fan by any stretch particularly after his incredible ungraciousness on say at the gold coast, but that was sensible driving preventing the car from heading into the sand trap. Was it dangerous? Really?

Very pleased it wasn't James, although being excluded from that session probably wouldn't have mattered that much

Tander has that switch on the steering wheel but he also has a lever by the LHS of his seat to operate the handbrake as well - that's what he used to miss the trap/fence.

James didn't lose buckets of time fuelling and checking damage, as he only went to the back of the queue under the safety car, and then served his penalty... out again on the leap lap, clear track, car checked out, confidence up... it could've been much worse... the lucky bit was 888 not filling Whincup properly...
