Bugger wish it was Bundy Rum.

Only joking .

Good work to every one that was involved

Hopefully a new sponsor will lead to a few victories.
Come on Will it's up to you

I have to admit to being a fair sort of a supporter of the old Queensland drop, Bundy Rum.

I am also happy to see a great sponsor like this turn up in the nick of time though, and basicly I'm happy to drink anything, especially if I have good reason too.

"It's ok luv , I'm just supporting the Team"

Hopefully this is in addition to sponsoring DJR. Still no confirmation of the DJR/Jim Beam deal so I guess untill we see it confirmed.......

At least we know we have a sponsor for next year!!!

The sponsorship deal was reported in Wednesdays Melbourne Sun.

"We`ve been saved by the skin of our teeth,"team manager Steve Chalker said yesterday after closing the deal in Sydney.

Well I said to TS-50 that I didn't want to put a downer on this issue but I thought I should let the rest of you know that the Jim Beam deal may not be a done thing.

I also read the V8 supercars site in regards to Jim Beams sponsorship of the V8's and no mention of DJR at all seemed a bit strange to me as well.

I emailed Jonathan (Marketing and Sponsorship at DJR) today asking if they could confirm any news in regards to Jim Beam and I received a reply as follows....

"Sorry Peter, I have no information available regarding the new naming rights sponsor for 2007, except to say that DJR will be on the grid in 2007 and the team is working hard to make sure everything is ready to go - on and off the track."

So read into what you like but it doesn't seem to me that they have confirmed anything with anyone yet.

Hi
Been a while since I posted last.
But how about this:
As posted by ATC @ V8 Central

How about this:
Wayne Cattach (Remember a former Manager of DJR) signs Jim Beam to a AVESCO sponsorship.
Upon finding out of the true state of DJR commercial sponsorships or lack there off aranges for Jim Beam to also apper on the DJR cars for 2007.
Thus ensuring that DJR survive for 2007 and V8 Supercars dont suffer the embarasment of a foundation team leaving the series due to the lack of real commerical appeal of V8 Supercars.

Merry Christmas and Happy 2007.

I had heard this as well. Either way as long as they have a sponsor I don't care how they get it.

Hey, that's fine by me too - its great to see that the bureaucrats really do give a damn about this foundation team and get behind them and of course, promoting the V8 supercars too. Now its up to DJR and the fans to woo them to stay longer.

True story, today the boss wanted to give me something for a job well done over the year and said, "name your poison". - "Well", I said, "A Bottle of Jim Beam would do me just fine, thanks very much"!

DJR are already making their product sell.;)

Sounds like there's a bit of work required at more than DJR headquarters...

That clears up a few questions. Official announcement not due untill early in the new year. Just hope it's at least a 3 year deal.

Cheers gilson65 & welcome to Club17...

That 2nd Perkins seat seems to have everyone guessing doesn't it??

Old Larry has either backed himself into a corner on this one or maybe the 'old fox' has a shock signing to blow everyone away.

Next few weeks should be interesting.

I expect the latter Rob. I'd imagine LP would want a front-line driver who can lead the team and provide sponsors with a realistic chance of a victory. Whilst I believe Shane Price will be a star of the future (as will Jack Perkins), I don't believe they have had enough V8 miles to be frontrunners just yet. I don't expect Jack to be in the main game in 2007.

There has been a bit of talk about Todd Kelly having the drive at JDR. Would be great to see Todd get away from the 'Grubby TWPG mob' & make his own way at Perkins. Probably to good to be true though ROB...

Just can't see anyone else who is available who could fit the bill that one would think JD's would want!

Who else is available???

Bezzy, Deserves another chance in a competitive car IMO.
Baird, Too old now & never really come to grips with Taxi's.
Ellery, Too old & too inconsistent IMO. Blew the 888 chance.
Steve Owen, would be a great chance if you could unlock him from RNR.

I'm sure LP has a suprise for us all...

Out of the 5 you list, I'd give Todd a go, and wouldn't bother returning calls from the others.

Bowe would be a good pick, except for the Ford baggage he carries....
