Word from around Staypleton way is that security is very tight atm at DJR.... no "outsiders" allowed beyond foyer (including deliveries) and every visitor must be signed in and out.

Is this is due to the construction of the COTF cars....??

anyone confirm this [sh]

There new cars are being built offsite as far as I know. Pretty sure Pace is doing most of the build and DJR are just fitting all the extras. I can't imagine their White liveries would be that big of a secret.

If you got the latest Team Mate email it looks like they are back to a white based livery (and from the "sneak peek" it doesn't look much different to the 2010 cars)

Spinning Wheels Rule "clarified' !

This from the 'Further' Supp Regs - Coates Hire 300

WHEELS SPINNING

Delete Supplementary Regulation 2.9.1 and replace with the following:

During any Pit Stop, from the time the Car leaves the ground until it returns to the ground, it is not permitted to have the clutch engaged to cause the rear wheels to rotate unless prior approval is given by the CTM.

In any case where the CTM grants approval the wheels must stop rotating prior to the Car being returned to the ground, and they must not be rotating as the Car returns to the ground.

To keep the theme of mobile phone companies going, Red Bull Mobile is firming as favorites to take over from Vodafone as major sponsor of T8. This should guarantee them a bucket load more money and keep them up at the pointy end of the field out of every other teams reach in terms of $'s.

Sneaky Speeders Put On Notice

V8SC Website said:
THE days of V8 Supercar drivers gaining major margin on a rival tucked up behind their rear wing at pit entry away from the prying eyes of a radar gun appear to be ending.

In addition to the regular 40 km/h pit lane entry line at Queensland Raceway, officials have confirmed that they will install a second line five metres beyond it at the Coates Hire Ipswich 300 this weekend.

The timing system will then be able to do a time over distance calculation to determine a car’s speed over that five metres, which must be no more than 40km/h.

This is intended to stop the long-time practice of drivers making up major time behind a rival given their car is undetectable by a radar gun when it is tucked up behind the other car’s rear bumper entering the pit lane.

The system will be fairer for all drivers and simpler to follow for fans by stopping the possibility of a driver 'leap-frogging' another in a pit stop given they gained a few seconds at pit lane entry and are able to come out of their stop in front of the car that they entered behind - which often has been the case in the past.

Radar guns as a detection of speed along the length of the pit lane will remain in use, with the additional timing line an extra means of policing pit speed.

Looking more like Red Bull 'Energy Drink' will be the one, rather than the 'mobile' reseller

Speedcafe said:
Triple Eight Race Engineering has confirmed that it has reached an agreement with Red Bull Australia to support its V8 Supercars team next year.

The champion V8 team and the leading energy drink company announced today that they have agreed on the key commercial terms for the naming rights sponsorship in a multi-year deal.

Funny how the rules are changed or re-interpreted after the sheep have escaped.
How about Vesa become proactive rather than reactive with their decisions.

I said they needed just this after Oran Park in 2005 after Ambrose and CLowndes were done for speeding in pitlane by a dodgy judge of fact when both teams proved with their telemetry they didn't

Triple Eight fuel rig mod outlawed amid pitlane crackdown

speedcafe said:
V8 Supercars has outlawed a recent modification to TeamVodafone’s fuel rigs as it cracks down on a number of pitlane regulations ahead of this weekend’s Coates Hire Ipswich 300.

The category has reiterated to its teams that the control rigs are not to be modified after TeamVodafone competed at both Hidden Valley and Townsville with metal beams protruding from the top of its fuel towers that supported the fuel hoses via fabric straps.

Rival teams queried the legality of the system with V8 Supercars after the Townsville event, claiming that the modification had been saving the Holden squad crucial tenths of a second during its stops.

TeamVodafone team manager Adrian Burgess, however, denies that the set-up had been providing any performance advantage.

“It doesn’t make it any quicker or any slower, we were doing it from an OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) point of view,” Burgess told Speedcafe.com of the modification.

“Having the beam out there with a strap on it was purely to take some of the hose weight off of the refueller.

“We spoke to V8 Supercars and initially they were happy with it, but now we’ve been told we can’t use it. We’re fine with that though, we know we won’t be any slower with the way we’re configured compared to what we’ve had for the last two races

OH&S.... [jk]

Sneaky Speeders Put On Notice - T8's View ! ( Pot / Kettle ) ?

Continuation of above article from Speedcafe:

... Elsewhere in pitlane, drivers will today get their first taste of a new pit entry speed measuring system designed to stamp out the practice of drivers gaining time while hidden from the view of V8 Supercars’ radars behind other cars.
A loop has been installed in the Ipswich circuit to record the time taken for each car to transverse the five metres between the two lines, allowing speed to be calculated regardless of radar and vehicle positioning.

Burgess says that TeamVodafone has been one of the key supporters behind the implementation of the more comprehensive detection method.

“We’re a really big supporter of that system, we pushed pretty hard to have the money spent on it because it (the practice of gaining time while ‘hidden’ by other cars) was spoiling the races,” said Burgess.

“Some drivers are known for taking more liberties than others at the pit entry and when one starts doing it the others have to otherwise they’re on the back foot. Now that it’s clarified we’ll all be on a level playing field.”

V8s to Channel 9 ?

V8s set for switch

"And don't be surprised to see another television broadcast rights deal announced by David Gyngell in coming weeks, with the Nine Network very close to snaring the V8 Supercars from Channel Seven.

In a deal expected to be worth around $350 million, it is understood Nine views the V8s as a perfect partner to NRL given they share a key demographic - regional Australia and western Sydney.

V8 bosses have grown frustrated with Seven's treatment of the series, failing to promote upcoming rounds in prime time and often shoving live races onto one of their digital channels which a large chunk of V8 supporters don't have access to.

A V8 Supercars round, into Sunday afternoon football, into Nine News, would be a genuine ratings bonanza for Nine."

I don't care who gets it as long as "time certain" races get assholed. Finishing a race early to go to another sport broadcast is just disrespectful!
