I love the one at Lakeside when Dick dispatched a very young Paul Weel who was waving to his Mum. That was gold!:D

I still can't work out why Weel thought he needed to wave Dick past. Dick would have past him like he was in reverse down the straight. The sad thing is that it cost Dick what would have been his last ever race victory, he still got second and JB came through for the win so at least we were still 1 2.

For me I think I'll remember Steve on Lowndes at Bathurst just gone for many years to come. Probably because I think a had a mild heart attack and started to shake that bad that I couldn't hold a beer until the race was over.:)

Yep, that one will stick for a while. I stood to win just over 3 g's if car 17 won!

Bathurst '99 also had a heap of memorable moves. Everytime a Red and Yellow car got anywhere near another car on a straight it was on!

I know exactly how you feel.

I was standing from that point on. My girlfriend had never seen me so worked up about anything, and i think was genuinely frightened. :D

And i instantly had the shits with all the PRETEND DJR fans in the room at the time.. I felt like no one else was allowed to enjoy it because i was the only one that stuck by the team when things got tough.

What an awesome afternoon's racing.

Sorry I'm getting a bit off topic.

That was the most memorable for me for a lot of reasons. The cheer that went up along pit straight when he pulled it off was so loud that you couldn't hear the rest of the field as they went past. I was in a box on the start line and looked down to my left to see a lone old man standing at the pit wall in the rain and got a lump in my throat when I realised it was Dick. Will walked along the landing at the back of the box to get out of the crowd on his way to the podium and I've never seen a bigger smile as we clapped him past. And to top it off while Steve and Will were at the post race press I walked right into Dick and Jill on their way back to the pits carrying the silverware and was able to congradulate them both. After all the team were back in the pits a crowd gathered at the DJR garage and a security guard started to move people away at which time Kelly Johnson called out to him and pointed to a few of us in Team Mates gear and me in my Club17 shirt and said not them, they're family, at which point Steve and Will left the celebrations and came over to shake us all by the hand. It's a memory that will only be topped next year after we win.

Sorry, back to topic.

A Memorable move for all the Wrong Reasons was at the Sprint round at Bathurst When For what ever reason and I still can`t work out why it happend but as Dick said latter in an interview: Youthfull exubrance,
was the Whoops from Lowndes whilst overtaking Wayne Gardiner at the end of Conrod. One of the most scariest moves ever and I get goose bumps every time I watch It is those two again at the end of main straight at Eastern Creek,Lowndes passes Gardiner and he pulls back in behind lowndes with bugger all space between, how they never touched
is amazing and propbally just as well.Scarrrrrrrey.[:0]

1997 Bathurst 1000, Caltex chase, and a battle between Steven Richards, and Alan Jones... as the two cars slither through the right-hand kink, Jones darts to the right, which Richo immediately moves to counter, in a seamless move in a twitching Falcon, AJ calmly tweaks it left, and drives straight past under brakes. Immense calm in the highest speed corner in Australia, from a bloke who'd been there and done that.

we probably bumped into each other DJRFAN.

I spent the last 35 laps behind the DJR Pit, I left all my mates over on pit straight as i just sensed something special was about to happen and I knew I just had to be a part of it, standing at the back of the pit talking to some of the guys including Will, was awesome, funny thing was, there was me and about three other fans, I couldnt believe that not many others were there, I guess they were engrossed watching the amazing race that was concluding before there eyes, anyway before I knew it,as the laps wound down I was actually in the pit sharing the emotion of the last 10 laps with the team and all the JB chicks it was awesome, to this day how I was not kicked out or arrested astounds me, I guess it was one of those once in a lifetime moments. (I was wearing all my Jim Beam Gear and was respectfully dressed BTW)to share the tears and to hug Jilly and shake hands with DJ at the end and to shout 3 cheers for Dick and Jilly when we all knew something special had just happened was absolutely amazing, a memory I will forever be greatful for.

Long Live DJR

How the hell did you two blokes sit on that story for the past 4 months and not telling us until now is beyond me. I'd have been busting to tell about, I'm just glad you did.[^]

I don't realy know nascar12. I think that you just get that caught up in it at the time that it's not until you take a moment to reflect that you start to realise how special the day was.

Hardies Hero, I was at the back of the pits a few times during the day, but for the last 35 laps the only time I took my eyes of the the TV was as #17 came into view and straight back to the TV when I couldn't see it anymore. If you were sitting anywhere oposite me on pit straight you're probably in some of my photos.

I have yet to move into the 21 century Poita. I still use film and I am yet to get them developed. Someone told me that I can get them put onto a disc in place of prints so I'll have to look into it.

When you get them developed just ask for a copy on disk as well as the prints. Get in touch with me after you have done this and I'll go though it with you on how we can get your pictures added to our gallery if you like.

If I remember I'll put them in tomorrow. Just pester me daily until I do it or it will be October again before I get around to it.
