Did anyone go to Lakeside today? Dan is planning to take Greens Tuf for a run this weekend now, but I am not sure if it is going to be there both days or only tomorrow.

Regards
John

Sorry to tell you this John as i know how much you love this old girl but they had Green's Tuf out at Lakeside today and the great man Dicky J even turned up and took her for a spin..[drive]

The two GTR Skylines were OK but never did do much for me, Stand out was the #25 Sierra that looked like it was hooking up pretty good but the driver ran out of puff about half way through the race and went from a close 2nd to a distant something. (I think it was KB )

In the Midday demo laps Jim Richards drove the #1 Winfield (Pack of Assholes) GTR as it is affectionately known as for the First time since the end of 1992.

Mark Gibbs drove GIO Nissan GTR that he partnered Rowan Onslow with at the 1992 Bathurst 1000. Yesterday was the first time he has driven a race car since 1993 in anger.

Big Rev Kev drove the ex Tony Longhurst Benson & Hedges Sierra for the very first time and had an absolute blast in it at one stage flying past Mark Gibbs but then backed off out of the battle deciding discretion was the better part of valor and not wanting to bin it. He had ripped the rear view mirror off the windscreen trying to adjust it and could not see out of the side mirrors (they are only about 75mm in diameter anyway) and couldn't see Gibbsy behind him.
KB also had an issue with what he thought was water pressure(turned out to be the oil pressure guage) and a deflating front left tyre.

Dan (Cheshire) Bowden took the B&H Sierra out at the end of the day and got out after the four laps saying it was the scariest:eek: thing he had ever driven. Took him 10-15 Min's to stop shaking as the Adrenalin was pumping through him so much.
Gentleman Jim took the #1 JPS Bimmer out at the same time.

KB reckoned that the B&H Sierra is the best of the type he's driven... said it made the red ones look like shitboxes.

You dead-set couldn't keep Richo off the track!

Hence my coment about the Ashtray in the B&H sierra. Tony had a sneaky boost control hooked up to it. If the ash tray was pulled the whole way out it would produce 1000hp and fry the engine in a lap or two at bathurst. Good for Qually only

Can't recall KB driving any of the DJR Sierras.

He might say they were shitboxes but the only time the B&H sierra got the upper hand on them was Bathurst 88 and that was only because the DJR cars ran into problems

Yeah, dunno what the basis for the comment was, but that was what one of the spanners was saying. The B&H cars didn't really deliver impressive results throughout their lifetime; the '88 Bathurst win was more a "last man standing" scenario, but I guess to finish first, you must first finish...

I see on FB that the Bowdens lads are mustard-keen to give the DJR Sierra a run at some stage too...

I think what Henry is alluding to Bigcol is that the 2 Red GTR's Winfield/GIO were the shit boxes. If he hadn't ripped the rear view mirror off and was able to see he would of cleared off from Mark Gibbs and given Gentleman Jum a run for his money.

No, old mate made the comparison with the DJR cars, although, like Col says, when did KB have a good squirt in the red cars?

Certainly, Kevin loved the little yellow thing. Dan B jumped in the 635 for the first time, and instantly fell in love with it... and Richo gave it an energetic airing too. That car sounds and looks simply magnificent! To see him monstering KB's Camaro on the Saturday was very special... out of the bus stop, they looked AWESOME (some more pics of that to come in the next day or so!)

Modern owners of the Godzilla GTRs have been shown that the instrument lighting dimmer dial does the same thing. It is turned down low for normal racing, but if you need extra neddies to pass, just turn up the wick...

It'd be interesting to ask Dick whether the DJR Sierras had the same thing.

Thanks darren

I was wondering & waiting for John to tell who was driving what & when.

It was when I was there as well from about 9:30 til 2.

An XC in the mix would have toped the day off.

Your in the know mate!

I was in a factory at Burleigh completing an order for 629 round display tables for Myers in Melbourne. I pushed out 60 on Sunday. Sounds like the cars all went well for the boys.

John

Cheeky fella. I was thinking of the money, not Lakeside. That was the only thing keeping me there. I am not going to the Muscle Car Masters now either. :(

Sound Tour and the Gold Coast event will be my next fix of race cars.

aawwwweeee poor boy.

I'm leaving the thursday night before and visiting in-laws on friday and saturday and then making my way to Eastern Creek raceway on sunday

Muscle Car Masters is better than the crap VESA puts on.

I go to see cars, not watch some old farts in there zimmer frames singing songs that my mother listened to
