How many of you have joined up? Am I the only one in the position of wanting to chuck a couple of hundred into membership but the way I look at it I've been spending a couple of hundred on merchandise since the early ninetees. This year I'll be buying more merchandise for myself and two of my three boys, (the third is a 888 man), two flags three hats, three shirts bare minimum. I was just wondering how many have joined and how many think supporting the team with merchandise purshases is the way to go. My hope is there are still memberships available a bit later in the year and I may have a couple of hundred spare then, but even then I think maybe lash out on a new team jacket instead. What have you mob done?

Yeah Donk, you ain't alone , there's a few of us already joined up.

but supporting the team with merchandice is good too, in fact it seems like they are relying on some merchandice sales to bolster the finances.

Any idea how may memberships they have already flogged? I hope they sell them all, but just not too quickly, I've just had to re register both cars in the same week so no spare cash right now and as soon as they have a full range of gear me and the boys will be lashing out their as well.

I have been a DJR fan for a long time even tossed in a couple of bucks after "The Rock". Always spending my money where I could to support his sponsors, bought the caps & Ts but I will not pay out right to be a "Fan" thats just my two bobs worth

I signed up but not sure if it's worth it at this stage. I'm happy to be a foundation member but thats about it so far. We'll wait and see how it pans out.

I`ve signed up for the $199 membership but if there isnt any value for money in it they can shove next year.

Poita, they had the 1/18 of davo for $150,now its gone up to $165 i had me eye on that but not now.

DJR are relying on merchandise sales to increase their sponsership with the Jim Beam brand but $85 for a team shirt is way to steep & those other shirts are a bit over priced as well,$50 seems a fair price for a team shirt me thinks.

Very interesting, tell me I assume the two hundred is a one off perpetual membership or do you have to renew? I think I will probably sit it out or at least wait and see. I am assuming there is going to be a lot more variety coming in the future as far as merchandise goes, if they expect to make money out of it they better get it in the market place ASAP. Personally I think if you are going to fork out to be a member there should be more incentive, maybe a corporate style day at one race per year for members, I know I paid around 250 bananas a few years ago for corporate hospitality at Oran park, it was well worth it, three days entry, grog, food, TV's, next to grid. I dont know just think it might be playing on our passion for the team and not rewarding our loyalty, mind you if I had the spare cash laying around I would have forked out by now.

I can't believe what I'm reading, regarding the zero feedback for buying membership.
Who is in charge of PR at DJR, obviously no one really when it comes to Fans like the ones they want to shell out membership $$$$$.

"Get back to the customer - make them feel like they have bought into some thing worthwhile - DJR will want to hope that you'll spend another 200 next year and every year".

" Make the fans feel important now, and you might get some positive 'financial' replies next year, when you will remember to post out the re-subscription reminders".

$200.00 per annum is steep on many that are doing the putting food on the table thing, but if I had it, I would have signed up in a heartbeat. Hopefully by then all of the hiccups will be sorted.

I'm still sitting on the fence guys. I,ve thought about signing up but haven't got around to it yet, but by the sounds of all this, I might just give it a miss.

I've joined up for the $200.00. & received Membership # 371, but not sure if that's any indication of how many people have joined & that is only for one year.
Here are sme T's & C's:
3. Team Mate privileges commence from time of completion on a valid application form & payment is received by Dick Johnson Racing, & are valid for 2007 only. Any unused privileges available to Foundation Members are not carried forward to a renewed Membership in 2008.
9. Membership Key rings remain tyhe proerty of Dick Johnson Racing & may not be sold or exploited for commerical use or used for any other promotional purpose without the express written permission of Dick Johnson Racing.
10. Foundation Membership status will remain for every consecutive year the Foundation Member renews their Membership beyond 2007. If a Foundation Member discountinues their Membership in any year beyond 2007, Foundation Membership status will be lost & will not ne reinstated if the Member re-joins in a subsequent year.
11. IF Foundation Membership keyring is required a replacement cost of $30 will apply.
Interesting.

I just looked up the word "Fan" in the Dictionary, I also Google it in all cases it told me it was a device to move air, also it was used in 1886 in base ball it was shortened from the word 'fanatic.'" All what I looking up on the word ?Fan? I did not find any thing about paying to be "A Fan? is this the start of the New age Fan paying to be one.
So in years to come will our children read "A Fan" is some that hands over large fists of Dollars to be able to have a chance to have a photo & a signature from some one are Fanatic about. God I hope not, In doing so does this make you are a better supporter then the one that has shelled out money on the teams sponsors & made it to as many rounds as he can & the ones he cant sits at home in his favorite chair in his over priced T Shirt Cap & a cold beer in a stubby holder that at the end of the year they almost half the price!!!
Tossing in another 2 bobs worth

Bloody hell, I thought it was a one off payment, I am as passionate about this team as all of us, but I'm not forking out 200 a year, as I said before I'll keep the cash and spend it on mine and the boys' merchandise, still supporting the team as have always done, just cant justify the 200 to be a member. I have always considered most of the true loyal fans of DJR that have been hanging around so bloody long waiting for a result and getting nothing but a hangover are what true supporters are about 200 bucks or not.

the 200 may be a one off payment , ther will be a renewal fee each year.

Actualy i'm a bit dissapointed about what i'm reading, especially about the Retention of Numbers, I mean for F$#% sake , if for some reason you can't afford to make the renewal fee you should be entitled to hold your number ( particularly the 18 ) for ever if you want to , or sell it as you see fit , I for one didn't think I was renting a Number for a year when I "Helped out a Mate" and bought a Number.

I'm fairly sure the top 18 will be able to re-subscribe for 200 per annum, same as the rest.

Look, it's most probably driven by the Jim Beam push for merchandise dollars and the membershp program could be a part of bolstering the sales figures, especially in the first half of the year when not all of the merch is fully available, hence the push on buying before the end of June to be eligible for the race suit raffle.

In retrospect, if you were a high roller excutive that had #1, you keep it going for 200 / annum, and be able to do the corporate thing/djr pit tours, with your clients at the supercar events.

Hi Guys and Girls, looks like DJR are taking an interest in us - I received this email regarding this topic and wanted you to see it - explains things alil methinks:

You've known us long enough to know we welcome all feedback, good and bad, so for your sake, I thought I'd clear a few things up by responding to some of the comments in the "DJR Membership" thread...

Firstly, I really want to make it clear that the Top 18 Team Mates, along with all foundation members, will actually pay less than new (2008) members from 2008 onwards to renew their membership, as a reward for being a foundation member, and the 2008 fee for EVERYONE will be a LOT less than $199. And of course we made it clear that each membership (like every other team's membership club) is for 12 months.

Regarding contact with Team Mates - every Team Mate (Top 18 or otherwise) was sent a confirmation email, then a Thank you email from Dick, and a couple more regarding their membership - if a Team Mate hasn't received any e-mails from us, it is because the email address they provided is incorrect or invalid (which as you know accounts for over 10% of all email addresses collected), or they have over-zealous spam filters which have blocked our emails.

As the Top 18 Team Mates were mentioned, it is important to note that EVERY TOP 18 member was e-mailed and/or telephoned constantly over a two week period to try and make contact with every one. If anyone knows of a Top 18 Team Mate who hasn't heard from DJR, they must be hiding from us!

As for the DJR forum, it was originally going to be for Team Mates only, because as a lot of your forum users would remember in 2006, the DJR forum was often reduced to a slinging match between a small group of users, and getting off topic was the norm in many threads. Nevertheless, we did not wish to cut off fans so we have kept it open to all... we decided this prior to going live, but the web guys couldn't make the changes to the back end until after we launched. As far as the use of nicknames vs real names on the forum, this has been addressed and is being resolved.

With our new online store, the pricing issue we had was everything went live ex GST. This was a simple input oversight which, as I understand, corrected itself at the checkout. Any changes to prices have not been us "bumping up the prices", it has been the addition of GST - We are just finishing these updates (a bit sad to see comments on the forum saying we are trying to rip off our supporters).

Mate, I am more than happy to take the wrap for any bugs we are ironing out of the new web site and the Team Mates club, but you know that there ain't a single person in the team who hasn't been working literally around the clock for the past 3 months to make sure we were ready for 2007.

At the end of the day, DJR has always provided fans with more access and info than just about any other team, and that's not going to change. DJR Team Mates is simply adding a new level of support for those who want it.

OK so theres the goss from DJR - hope it helps to end any speculation??

Cheers to all of you,

Doug and Charli

Thanks doug and thanks to whoever contacted you, it is good to know the TRU BLU fans are being heard, I reckon everyone appreciates the fact that our concerns are at least being heard, as I said if I had the brass I would buy, it would be interesting to know what the renewal fee will be as I also said I hope the program works and they sell all the memberships, a good result in W.A will help.

Thanks Doug and DJR for the response.

After re-reading what I wrote I was a little harsh in some of my comments.

As it was me who stated that I felt I was being "ripped off" I apologise to DJR and anyone else I may have offended.

But in my defence I was a little annoyed at the time I posted, image how I felt when I went to put in an order one day (and get my wife saying "worry about that when you get back from Sydney) and then less than a week later I go to resubmit the order and every item has increased in price, especially the XU1 Torana.

So I'll head down to DJR one day soon with my tail between my legs and buy myself some Jim Beam merchandise.

Cheers
Peter
