No, it just THAT feeling AGAIN - high hopes, low expectations etc.... gutted.

Now we find out we have the fastest cars in the pack

Good gutsy drive from Reynolds - made the afternoon worth watching

I'm with him :D

We had a 75% finish ratio!!

It was a frustrating day at the mountain...again. Moffat did ok, buggered if I know what happened to Steve, he seemed to be traveling well inside the top ten late in the race only to finish 17th. Must have had tyre trouble or something but bloody difficult to find out anything from channel HRT 888.

Thought overall the commentary and coverage of the 50th great race was largely sh1t. Bring on Channel 10, hopefully with their own team and more say in what goes to air.

It was my first time at Bathurst race and I tell you what a boring race. Whincup never looked like losing it from about lap 90. I'll never go again to watch it live as you're better off watching it on telly. No one else even looked like challenging Whincup not even Lowdnes. As hard as Renyolds tried he wasn't going to get past.
How many time have we heard from 888 how they only had a can of coke of fuel left and were lucky to make it. What a joke, my interest has waned even more after the weekend

If they were the fastest in a straight line, they must have been absolute shite over the top!

I thought channel 7's coverage was shithouse!!! Coverage only for T8 and FPR. We saw all their pitstops from beginning to end, yet other cars didn't even get a look in. They just kept on showing that knob in the crowd at the top of the mountain!! It's no wonder sponsors are leaving in droves.

Also sick of the Skaife/Crompton T8 fetish and absolute bias towards them. Can't believe how many times they mentioned car 6 had their wheels spinning in the pitstop. They were BEGGING for a drive-through, yet when T8 unsafely released Lowndes, they went quiet and of course he wasn't penalised.

Apart from the last few laps, the racing was boring as bat shite! Blueprint was meant to make the series more even, but I've never seen it more uneven. The big budget teams (T8 and FPR) have the money and resources to win everything. It will be exactly the same with COTF make no mistake!

V8SC is rapidly losing me because its no longer a contest and downright boring. This isn't because DJR struggled (again) it's because the series is going to the dogs and those in charge are too blind to see it!

Rant over

Totally agree with you Rob.

Loosing interest very quickly and working at the Bowdens with all their historical and REAL race cars is turning me off the V8supertaxi's very quickly.

Years gone by i would not move from in front of the TV but yesterday even though i was working and had the chance to watch most of it, i am lucky if i watched even half of the race.

Heard an interesting one the other day whilst in bathurst. Supposedly cochrane was forced to fall on his sword over misuse of v8 funds. Something to do with using a private jet to go to america without authorization not sure how true it is but wel......

This is so correct. If you don't have the money you're not gonna get anywhere consistently. As you said only T8 and FPR were going to win and then possibly HRT and SBR after them. I think SBR have been a disappointment to be honest as they haven't really taken the next step (probably due to lack of funds and that is the reason for moving to Merc). All other cars never really had a realistic chance unless some major things happened.

I'm with Darren here. In years gone by I have everything I need within arms reach and am glued to the set (I so miss the group C days), but the last two or three years I have it on all day though not so engrossed anymore.

This year I knew I needed smokes on Saturday, but left it until Sunday after lunch to grab a shower and drive down to Woolies and get some bourbon and cigs. Even whilst I was watching the telecast I would wander out for a coffee and smoke, or jump on the PC to post my thoughts about the race on Facebook....there was never any urgency to get back to it, or any feeling that I might miss something.

I think it was 2009 when I actually went out with the family for a couple of hours and just caught up with the hourly updates when I get home......on a day the wife and kids normally leave the house and don't disturb me.

It's a pretty poor reflection on how the sport is going, I'm afraid.

Except for the last 10 to 20 laps it was more of the same all day, and barely ever seeing a DJR Falcon didn't help.

On a personal note, Someone needs to drop Matthew White in Sydney Harbour...what an oxygen thief.

I went to the race (not for the first time) and really enjoyed it. I was able to follow the race, and not just the lead cars. From my vantage point at McPhillamy park I was able to watch the cars come across Reid and sulman, through McPhillamy, and then down Conrad and through the chase. A replay screen was visible, and having access to the live timing made it quite easy to see where everyone was in the scheme of things. I hardly left my seat all day, and look forward to doing it all again next year.

I don't know if it is just wishful thinking, or not, but I'm expecting next year to be interesting. Whilst not a huge fan of the COTF concept, all teams will start fresh (sort of) and although they will have most of a season under their belt by the time they get to Bathurst I still think the mountain will throw something at the cars that will really test them out mechanically.

With any luck 2013 could be a bit of a step back in time, in regard to reliability issues, and bring in something we haven't seen in the category for many years.......uncertainty.

After next year the teams will have a full season of data to fall back on with the COTF cars, so 2013 could be our best chance for a thrilling race.

The last time there was any real uncertainty and interest, 888 had jumped ship and were debuting a commodore. Look where that ended up. Hit the ground running and made everyone else look stupid (especially holden teams). Where do you think things will be this time next year when the others are all playing catch up. 2 laps behind by lunch I'd reckon.....

i think the new co driver rule has to go, i mean when you put your two main drivers together each team focus mainly on 1 car, and the "sister car" is not expected to do anything, and there the ones that cause the crashes or if have a really good day get an un expected top 5. now the co driver has one job, keep it straight for the 54 laps and hand the car back to the main driver, also i think just for bathurst get the dunlop serious in the main race, start the race with over 50 cars on the grid and just have to classes, the amount of action you will get with over 50 cars starting on the grid, only about 20 would be on the lead lap by the end of the race, also got to do somthing about the rest of the season, i am looseing instrest in not just bathurst but the other rounds, and its not me being bias because djr are going bad because they have gone bad in years befor and still was insterested because the racing was good, get tracks like canberra back where there is always action, and as for teams having money to spend mabey there should be a salary cap, like nrl, or go the way the f1s have gone, and if you have to change somthing major on race weekend you loose a certain amount of grid spots, because not every team can do what team vodafone do and just replace somthing brand new, most teams have to repair it, seriosly im watching the f1s more and more and they are getting better and better, the v8s could learn a lot from f1s. i no they are two compleatly diffrent cars but little things.. but anyway be interesting to see how cotf goes, was impressed with the one they displayed at bathurst, looks and sounds the same, i didnt like the idea at first, but i really hope merc and nissan can change the sport.

go djr
