Got an email from them stating they have changed the entry conditions for QR.

Dear Peter

Thank you for your email.

We have re-negotiated the entry fee for the QR Test day and it will now
be the same as Winton i.e. a Gold Coin donation per person with all
proceeds going to Variety Club of Australia.

Cheers,

Yeah...gold coin per person and $20 per car to park.....a real money spinner for something that was previously free. I also wouldn't expect to get into the pits too easily if Cochrane's henchmen are running things this year.

apparently the QR test day may be called off and moved to Oran Park, something to do with the track surface not being up to scratch.

has anyone else heard this??

HH last I heard was the track is fine after some resurfacing. They ran a free drift car day to lay down some rubber on the new tarmac.

I'll give a mate of mine a call, he does some work at QR, and find out exactly what is happening.

Ok here are the facts on QR.

The entire track was sprayed with a conditioning compound. For some reason the spraying has had the reverse effect and has made the track extremely slippery. To try and fix the problem they have sprinkled sand on the track surface and swept the whole track a number of times.

No resurfacing was done to the track at all it was just sprayed with this compound which has been used before.

They have run a variety of cars around the track in an attempt to lay down some rubber, at this stage their not sure how effective is was.

A meeting is being held late this afternoon and I should have some more info tonight.

My mate just called me, The track was resprayed late last week and the V8 Experience guys ran on it all day today and reported that the surface seemed ok. It may be a different story come Thursday though when the V8 Supercars run around at a lot higher corner speed though.

Expect the times to be down on previous years.

Expect it to be slower.

Tetley is an arsehole all the Queensland teams should go to Oran park anyway. the'd get a lot better test data from there anyway

OK , so it's pissing down here in QLD this morning and looks to continue all day,

so will that wash off all the rubber from the newly conditioned surface making tests about as usefull as tits on a bull?

The idea that setting up and collecting data will be worthwhile is a farce if these conditions prevail and the newly conditioned could make it dangerous or add to expenses if any serious offs occur.

I hope there is a back up date for testing should this day prove to be a failure.:(

TS50: I have a great idea - let's ask all the QLD based teams to spend a shitload of cash and come to a compulsory test day that will result in absolutely no data for them - ohh that's right, they already are. Im with you and the rest on this - head south boys!!
