Just reading Herald Sun sport section James to start in Grants BF for support races and told to settle down by Dick to many silly errors.Car 18 back at workshop under going repairs.

Well there's 2 things:
1. I'm glad djr are using common sense and making sure the FG is fixed properly.
2. Very accurate media article yet again - Courtney's new BF and Johnson's Jack Daniel's colours - pathetic really.

Pretty harsh really.

There is no doubt that he f#@ked up, but if it was me i wouldnt be happy with the public show of pissed off-ness from the boss. It just makes him look foolish. I have no problem with running the BF, but why cant they just say that they want the FG right, not that Courtney is so reckless that he's ruined his car and is now forced to drive an old one.

Not the way i would have gone about it.

Sounds like DJR will be doing the repairs.
I thought the same thing Gerry, the Jack Daniels miss-print is appalling. If I was DJR or Jim Beam I would be far from impressed.

I had a picture from 2007 of James's car being nothing more than a pile of panels from a roll over in practice at Hidden Valley signed by James on the weekend. Had a chat to Dick about it, and he made it clear that if James did something like that at DJR he would be getting a fairly strong talking to. That was Saturday morning, we know what happened Sunday morning....

3 f#@king times Courtney hit the wall at turn 8. Then he says something broke in the rear. FFS if he hadn't bashed the car around so much he would have had something he could use in R2 and at the AGP. It only broke because he broke the f#@king thing

He needs to start showing his worth sooner rather than later or this is going to cost DJR a fortune in bent cars

The Clipsal weekend reminded me a bit of the 2001 Adelaide round. Paul Radisich debuted a brand new DJR AU and proceeded to turn it into a smouldering wreck throughout the duration of the weekend!!

This was my fear with JC when he came to DJR and after 1 round it has been realised. What hurts even more is that it is a brand new car and these have been as rare as rocking horse $h!t in recent years. Now the team has to spend time repairing a brand new chassis rather than concentrating on getting more out of them before NZ.

I have never doubted James' raw speed but he needs to balance this with calm and consistency. I didn't think the article was too harsh. If nothing more it will ensure JC pulls his head in a bit and settles down over the next few meetings. If he can do this, I have no doubt he can win races.

Thats exactly what i was thinking to Rob.
I stopped being a Rat fan after that day and then hated him when he pulled the 888 car up on the side of the circuit gifting that NZ shitbag Murphy another Bathurst in 04.

If things don't change real soon with Courtney he'll be off overseas looking for another drive as no one in V8 superfarce will touch him

Lets hope he gets through this years GP without any damage, remember last year he took out Jason Bright & Marcus Marshall,Jason wanted to punch his lights out in the pits.

Playing Devil's Advocate here:
Most seem to agree that James has talent and raw speed.
His problem seems to be some sort of "brain fade" which leads, generally, to destroyed machinery.
It's been said that the Stones had "conversations" with him about this which has led to some improvement and less destroying of machinery.
After Round 1 with djr, it's been reported that God "had a chat" with him regarding the worrying trend continuing.
To me, it would appear that chats have been held on a regular basis during the last few years.
The question is , how many times should God talk with him before he cuts the harness and releases him?

Guys,

Yes, James did not have the result that he, his team, and ourselves perhaps expected.

I know from experience, and I know that you cannot compare me to a professional racing car driver, that in a new job you always want to show your boss just what you can do and that his/her investement in hiring you has been worthwhile and that they have made the correct decision.

To be honest, I feel a bit dissapointed in reading todays news article, and in particular Dicks comments, this is the last thing we need hearing stories of in house instability after only one round.

To me, and to others that I have spoken to who do not follow V8 Supercars closely, from the outside looking in, this seems to glare of some upheaval in the camp, and to me this is not good.

Now before you all yell and scream at me for being negative towards our team, I would be more than happy to look Dick (someone who I hold in very high regard for what he has done with his life)in the eye and chat to him regarding his comments, which I believe could and should have been kept in house.

sorry guys, but I am a little perplexed at the moment...

how many times did God speak with Allan Grice before he was cured of his spontaneous brain snaps? I see mitch's pov, but in JC's case, he's renowned as a bloke with a high pain tolerance and I'm sure that a gentle reminder that the team doesn't exist to merely piece the jagged little pieces back together each Monday isn't out of place either. We all had enough of that sort of shit in the Radisich days.

He's got the potential to carry the team right to the front, but trying to brute-force the car out of untenable positions won't do his popularity at Emeri St any good at all...

JC did the same sort of thing to start his tenure at SBR; f#@ked the new car, and then f#@ked the spare as well. A weekend in the old dunger might be a suitable stint in purgatory... I for one want to see the guy star sooner rather than later

I think we're all going off a bit early.. I dont blame Dick for talking to him, i just dont see why it had to be put in the public domain.

I'll give him a few more rounds before i pass any major judgment on him. Sooner or later all that pace has to add up to something.

HH, I am disappointed and perplexed atm too, but it's not all doom and gloom so keep your chin up buddy. Sure, things might appear a little 'strained' at present but I think this might be what is needed for James to re-engineer his natural flair. I like JC and I think he will ultimately become an integral part of DJR. If DJ himself can't get through to him (which I'm sure he can) Adrian will. Round 1 was certainly not the best for him, but it was exactly that...Round 1. There are plenty more to go so let's not get too desponded just yet with minimal cause.

Just a case of the boss giving the new employee a "kick in the arse" for fcuking up, (as serious as it is for bending a brand new V8 supercar). I dont think #18 FG will be alive as long as Jnr's 2004 BA.
Just be glad Dick didn't give him the treatment and put him through his Shell tips and tricks mulching machine like that other poor sod that stuffed up.

Maybe the trick is to make James work with the crew fixing it. Might make him appreciate how much of his (and their) valuable time is consumed in making good his over-enthusiasm.
