RIP Marco Simoncelli.

I saw the crash, and numerous replay's, poor guy didn't stand a chance, he lost the front end and fell directly into the path of Colin Edwards, who made full on contact with him and tore his helmet off, the rest we all know about.

Apart from the obvious family and friends of Marco effected by his passing, my heart really does go out to Colin Edwards, the poor guy had absolutely nowhere to go and by watching his reaction when he saw the helmet roll past him and seeing Simoncelli laying in the middle of the track, he knew. Poor guy is going to be haunted by that for the rest of his life.

All in all a horror week for world motor racing.

R.I.P DAN WHELDON AND MARCO SIMONCELLI.

Couldn't agree more with you Damo. The shot of Edwards standing injured and looking back was heart wrenching.

I hope motor sport learns something from this week. I'm reading reports that several Indy drivers are reassessing their professions.

Thoughts and prayers to the families of both guys.

Casey Stoner has announced this morning he is retiring from MotoGP at seasons end. Lets hope he goes out with another title under his belt.

That's a left fielder if ever I saw one!
I half expected Rossi to call it quits this year.
Good on him for making what must have been a very tough decision as he is still young and could have ridden for a lot longer.

After his test with 888 where he did a few practise laps then his quick one and only around a tenth behind Whincup, there is pretty hot talk that he's being head hunted for the V8 series, big name with a big following would be worth a few bucks.

Having said that anyone remember captain Chaos,. . . he was pretty quick out there by himself too.

Casey wins in the US ,. . . . again.

Just when we were all thing he'd either given up or had lost his teams support, he nails it.

Starting from second behind Jorge, makes the pass on Lap 22 and pulls out a lead that sees him win in great style.

Could Casey come back from here and win the championship?

It'd be awesome if he left as Champion. Although if he comes over to the world according to Cockring, he'll have to hit the ground running, otherwise I think he might be banished to the bleachers and I don't think that starting in the the DVS would be a wise move. [sh]

The news said he'd broken his ankle and would be out for the rest of the season - not a good way to finish if that is the case.

Edit: Just read another report that says it's ligament damage in his ankle and he may race. ????
