OK so with the new Mega AFL deal will we see the V8's going back to ten ? Or will it be a dual deal where Foxtel play everything live on speed channel without ads and seven fit it in around their other programming as they do now[sh]

I know I will be in the minority here, but I would love to see the V8s Live on Speed... (ok maybe Im a little biased too...) Reckon they might end up back on TEN, not discounting 7, even after todays announcement.

I think it was announced today that 7 would be using 7 Mate for most of the AFL games. But considering the amount of money they have poured into this deal I would be surprised to see the V8's remaining with 7.

I thought under the new anti-siphoning laws that just got passed a percentage of V8SC rounds had to be shown live or delayed on 7's free to air channel. Not 7mate or 7two as these require a set top box or HD tuner to be viewed which is not allowed as it is deemed not everyone can view these channels due to no STB or HD Tuner.

Don't forget that the whole country is being digitalised (and I don't mean that!!) for TV over the next couple of years so all this talk of 72 and 73 not being mainstream will be null and void.

Only Bathurst, the AGP and the bikes at the Island were covered by the anti-siphoning laws.

I'm not sure when 7's contract expires, but I thought that was the purpose of the anti-siphoning laws, so that events couldn't be broadcast solely on digital channels. I think analogue is being switched off at the end of 2012?

Ahh now it makes sense, their contract expires around the same time analogue has the plug pulled. Analogue will be phased out until the end of 2013 which I'd say a majority of Australia will be before then, maybe regional centres will be switched to digital last.

Antg over in actual australia you may be getting only digital TV by 2012 but pretty much all of WA is only going live at the very end of 2013. As usual we are a few years behind on the technology.

I wonder Darren. It might be good because at these prices, 7 will have spent their budget and 10 is high and dry. Lets hope they decide to buy exclusive rights to the v8s and not finish the races early to go to the afl games. Maybe I am being too optimistic.
