I was trying to convince Beejay all weekend that as a well backed, championship winning team we would have no problem attracting a high profile replacement for Adrian Burgess...

and now speedcafe has posted this..

http://www.speedcafe.com.au/2010/12/08/belgian-team-manager-considers-v8-futur/

I dont know anything about the guy but it sounds promising..

Internationally renowned motor racing manager Didier Debae had his first taste of V8 Supercar racing in over three years when he visited the Sydney Telstra 500 at the weekend.
The Belgian, currently living in New Zealand, has previously worked with the likes of Tom Walkinshaw Racing and Williams Touring Car Engineering in the European and British Touring Car Championships respectively.
Debae also spent time working as the Sporting Director for Opel’s DTM program, and has more recently been involved with the Formula Master category.
Having last seen the V8 Supercar Championship Series in 2007, Debae said he was impressed with the way it has developed since that time.
“I think that everything, not just the cars, but everything has developed around the paddock,” he told Speedcafe.com.au
“The merchandising and the number of families with young children – obviously the interest is great.
“I know that the television and attendance is not as big as it was in the past, but I think that the recession has something to do with the spectators not coming to the track. It’s a lot of money to spend on a family day out.”
With DJR’s team manager Adrian Burgess leaving for TeamVodafone in 2011, Debae has emerged as a possible replacement, and says that the situation will be resolved within the next few weeks.
“All the problems that Dick has had in the past few months, obviously they’ve got them sorted out and need a couple of weeks to make a decision,” he said.
“It (the team) is a good set-up. They look very good in the paddock and in the pits, and obviously on the track they’re doing an excellent job.
“But there’s always room for improvement.”

Dick also said Tom Walkinshaw would protest the colour of his bagpipes if he could [crackup]

That was the year Tony Longhurts won, after Dick spun on Conrod....IIRC the TWR car got caught with an illegal steering rack.

Well you can only go backwards from No. 1. It was probably in his best interests to move on and look for new challenges. A major blow for DJR though!

you blokes crack me up. Its... "all the best Adrian...we love u", and then.... "thanks for the championship JC, now **** off you treacherous bastard!" hahahaha[crackup]

Adrians defection to T888 is worse I reckon....not really...they are both entitled to go where they need to go...but I see the good guy Adrian is, and hope he can handle things at T888 working for that bloke, because his new boss doesn't come across real well...a bit of polisher. I guess if Craig can handle him, Adrian will.....look out for Craig next year....he and Adrian could really be a force to be reckoned with.

I find JCs silence intriguing. This whole convoluted **** up of the last 3 months might not be quite finished yet.

Im sad to see all of them go including Scotty be hard for all of us to go from winning a championship to having what i can see as a "rebuilding year" with plenty of new personnel but the main thing is DJR will live on.

Agree convert 09 - not knocking Adrians contribution to DJR, but why is he any different than Dollar Bill and JC. Built up a reputation, some good results and off to Holden 888 $$$....Why all the back slappin' and high 5's?

Thanks for the title JC and you seem like an alright bloke, but hope you have the same amount of future success as the other former car #18 drivers.

Anyone who has met Adrian and spent time talking to him will know why he is held with such high regard by some members on here and those same people wishing him the best.

Anyone that thinks Adrian is leaving just for the money then they need too have a bloody good look in that reflective thing in every bathroom called a mirror.
When Adrian made the decision to leave no one knew whether DJR would even exist next year and he had to make in his words "a very hard decision" to leave. One has to look after themself and their family. As the saying goes "FAMILY COMES FIRST"

Well I am going to disagree to disagree and I will probally disagree with my self for disagreing, but I am going to disagree anyway, 2011 will see Djr jump to the next level where they will have 2 & not 1 fast car up the front. I can't remember to many races that #17 & #18 were fast straight out of the truck on a Friday???????????????????????????[sh]
