The 2012 Clipsal 500 wrapped up in Adelaide this afternoon.
James Moffat’s retirement mid way through the race was the most significant thing to happen to the 4 DJR drivers all day. After only managing to get around the Adelaide Street Circuit 16 times, the Team Norton DJR Falcon was retired due to broken power steering, despite the team replacing the pump.
In an unusual situation for the Clipsal race, all 78 laps were run without a safety car or on-track incident, having only happened twice before, the last time in 2001.
A refueling issue on the first pit stop for car #17, meant that Steve Johnson’s Jim Beam Falcon was put back 7 positions.
The team was lead around the track for the majority of the race by new DJR recruit Steve Owen in his V.I.P. Petfoods Falcon.
The race ended with the Dick Johnson Racing team finishing closely packed together, with Owen leading the team home in 14th, followed by Johnson in 17th and Dean Fiore in 19th.
The team now head to Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix in two weeks time.
