Given the interest in this topic - lets see what you all think would make a competetive maingame and konica lineup for DJR - we will compile the answers and send off to Steve Chalker.

Looks like the 'Rat' will be looking for a drive with Lowndesy moving to 888. Personally unless Owens times are sensational, Id poach a driver from Holden to team SJ. Tander is a biff, but I reckon he is a talented biff who would instantly become a good bloke in a Shell Helix Falcon.

peterL i have read on another forum that the RAT could be going back to England to drive for Prodrive. I would like to see John Bowe back at DJR for his ability to develop a car. Why cant DJR have the expierienced Bowe and a hard charging young Steve Johnson. I think Bowe would be very good for Steve it would take him to another level

There is talk of JB leaving BJR next year as well TRU BLU & THAT would be an awesome combination of Johnson-Bowe (Geez that sounds familiar).
I've also seen Owen race twice this year and to me he looks like a racer & he's quick & thats what we need right now. But as I said on another post I'll leave my judgement till after Bathurst. Can't wait!

BOWE,BOWE,BOWE, COME HOME AND FINISH YOUR CAREER WITH US BEFORE YOURE TOO OLD. I wonder if there is still any hard feelings about when J.B. jumped ship. If they cant sign an established top liner I am sure they will spend a lot of time comparing Owen and Luffy's times, feedback, set up etc etc. I think they are both deserving of a drive I just wonder if Shell might not want a big name back in the 18 car.

Really when you look at it, where in a bloody good position next year & as much as I would love Bowey to return to DJR, it's very unlikely. But to have a choice of Johnson, Luff & Owen kelly for next year, it's not a bad problem to have.

i to have been very impressed with Owen Kelly he is fast and very smooth but its a big step up from Konica to the main game as Mark Winterbottom has shown. I am a bit worried that if DJR puts a young guy in 18 that its going to be another year with the second car not in contention. I would go for a expierienced driver to get both cars up there. But yes Rob its going to be very interesting to see the times between Johnson Luff and Kelly. From what i have been told that on occasions this year that Kelly has been the fastest driver in testing and that is with him driving the AU

I dont like rumours thay are as relaible as my gramdmothers blader.

But......

Motorsport News reported that DJR my expand to 3 cars in the main game next year.

I was told of this Tuesday by a non motorspot person :

John Bowe will return to 18 in 2005 to help with devolpment and to have a farewell tour simmilar to Dick's.
Owen Kelly to get the 3rd seat
Warren Luff to Konica but garanteed a endurance drive and will regain 18 when JB is finished.
A L2 franchise will be purchased at the end of 2004
Shell to continue to Sponsor but Fijitsu and a "large company that has conections with Shell" to join in as "major partner"

I dont know how much of this is fact and how much is fiction but it give's me hope for 2005.

Also Did you see Steve's interview on the Bigpond V8 site?
Very good interview.

JC, those are rumors I hope come true. Sounds like a win win situation. question is if JB leaves OZ, and B.Jones will hopefully retire who will drive for OZ. I reckon with the right drivers OZ could be a dangerous package. They will need to poach a big name, maybe Garth....

Would be wonderful! The step up from Konica has proven too large for many up-and-comers... I think maybe a couple of years in there would be of benefit to some of the guys who have found the chasm between Konica and the main game. The intensity is far greater, and the enhanced need for racecraft in addition to sheer pace is often more than they are used to.

Every part of that rumour is a ball tearer, it sounds way to good to be true, JC I hope youre right, only problem as we all know is who gets shafted at pit stop time. In theory last on track cops the raw prawn, but it could be a big drama. Anyway heres hoping this rumour is close to the mark.

Guys, to see "Jellybean" back in the fold would be an absolute blast, and maybe give the team one - two years breathing space while recruiting new talent.

Only one question, why would Bowe want to retire??? I for one think he is driving as well as ever. If somehow we manage to get him back, we need to lock him in for longer than 1 year. Ah, the days of DJ & JB having a year to year handshake deal, how times have changed.

Bring JB back for 2 years, then put him in charge of the konica program. Under JB`s guidence the future can only go forward.

I read somewhere that Junior was giving away 0.3 of a second per lap because of how big he is again.
Apparently Steve is out to 110kg again.
If this is correct you have to wonder about his dedication to not only the team but to himself.
Gone are the day's where you only had to be resonably fit to drive.
The V8's of today are much much more demanding on the body than they have been in the past.
Come on Steve if this is true it's time you bit the bullet(no don't eat it just bite it) and got into some sort of condition
