This is a question for all of you people who are in the know. I was just reading an article on Speedcafe that the Australian GT series is expecting a 30 car field next year, with a lot of newcomers. There was subsequent debate in the comments about how much cheaper they are than the current V8's. Seeing that the GT's cost around $600k for a newer spec "front runner", it still aint cheap. I know that COTF costs have blown out, but what is their real cost?

Kim Jones told me that the outgoing cars cost around $300,00 where as the new gen 2 cars are about $ 600,000 and also require a lot more spares such as trans axles etc as they are more prone to expensive damage as opposed to the old holinger gear box and diff assembly.
He said he runs his cars on about 12 million per year which is about 60% of triple 8's two car budget

GT racing in Australia going from strength to strength, Only problem is it cant get too big as V8SC promotes their showpiece event.

Didn't take them long, I received a flyer for the 12hr on the Sunday at Bathurst when leaving the track.

I hope the rumours are not true that V8SC has been struggling to get a full grid for 2016 12hr, As the CEO of Liqui Moly used his own personal cash to bring lucrative factory teams over for the race, And V8SC wont have a bar of it.

Sorry bit off topic, Cost of COTF? dunno.

Nissan's 4 cars cost a total of $5mil, I believe the starting costs is around $750,000 per car but the big expense is in repairs.
