Talking about the Bill Bourke XW, it used to live not too far way from me until a few years ago. The chap who owns it used to store it in his grandparents shed on their property. It was about half way between where I live and where TS50 lives. :D

When I was much younger, one of my mates at school used to talk about his older brothers XY GTHO Phase 3 all the time. We thought that he was full of sh!t, until his brother picked him up from school in it one day. When we were older and had our own muscle cars (mid to late 80's) his brother was away in the navy, so we used to take the car for a run once a month to keep the oil turned over. :)

This car is still owned by the same chap and I have driven it many many times. It has 81 000 original miles on the clock and it puts a smile on my face every time I get in it. It has been used as a wedding car many times in my family and for close friends. We have been to the GT Nationals in it and back in the 90's did many long trips in the old girl.

One day in the wet the detroit locker bit hard coming out of a corner and I put the old girl up the gutter. That was the closest it has come to getting damaged and I learnt a huge lesson that day. They might have heaps of grunt in a straight line and smoke the tyres whenever you want, but in the wet they need to be treated with alot of respect.

It is 1 of 3 in the colour combo and interior trim etc. It also came from the factory with a vinyl roof, but that was removed many years ago and the roof was painted the car colour.

Cheers
John

Nice! That would have been great driving a Phase3, What a car [bw]
I was told a farmer from around the Central West NSW had one and was driven from the farm to town and would even park it in Woolies carpark

I have been told it was much like the GT in Australian muscle car magazine which a shearer drove daily and is still going today.

As long as they are driven they way are meant to be driven is all that matters i suppose.

A mate of mine was pally with a guy who used to collect all sorts of Holdens - when I was acquainted with him, he had a VK Group A, a VN Group A, an HSV VL Group A, a supercharged Corvette, and a 4-door A9X.

The A9X and the VN were sold in the early/mid-90's, and he purchased a local XT GT, which was apparently the Bertram/Gates Surfer 6-Hour winner from 68 or 69... they were all gorgeous cars...

--------

Another aquaintance of the old man's collected Fairlaines and the like... he had one of every model since 67, including a lovely metallic gold Landau that his son drove to school in his senior years... the son was/is an international airline pilot, and put an XB GT hardtop in the shed with his dad's collection too...

--------

Another bloke I worked with had bought a disassembled Phase III in the late 80's, but the shell was beyond repair... he put all the bits into an XY Fairmont shell and painted it all up as a GT-HO... shame it wasn't 100%, but mechanically it was all Phase III... and apparently it was SO much fun at Eastern Creek in the 90's....

Recently a mate of mine bought a rolling shell of a LC GTR Torana from a wreckers in Melbourne. It cost him $ 3500. He found that the id tag had one too many digits on it and so he started to investigate. Turns out it was the first LC GTR produced and after this car they used less numbers on the id tag. Ferdie Dalberto (Tonys Uncle) produced photos from when this particular car was driven to Bathurst as a marketing exercise by holden, it had a unique black and white paint job, different to other GTR's. The Dalbertos gave his $ 25k for it and are currently restoring it.

17+ years ago my brother bought a Holden panelvan. The back was decked out had a hideous Transam front and XBGT bonnet scoops:eek:. HE ripped the front of and while rebuilding it, he found out it was a genuine Sandman.
Many moons ago I came accross a Rusty XAGT sedan. I did not want to sell any of my toys at the time to restore it and My girlie did not want a 4sp LSD as her future daily drive. I could have got it for $2750. IF I had a crystal ball and new the future worth of it, I would have sold my party car in a heartbeat.

I had an XC Fairmont GXL with all the fruit, I kick myself about letting that one go nearly everyday. Also, when I was much younger, I walked away from buying an original XY GT in yellow ochre with Globe Bathursts and a top loader. If only I could have afforded to pay the insurance on apprentice wages!

Forgot the bro had a XBGS 4DR interceptor. Man that used to romp along. It would fry in top cog with party tyres. The Yellow was ditched for Candy apple, dumped on its guts with huuuge tyres. We could not get a pinky beetween the tyres and guards. The rust that was in the boot was mind blowing (before rebuild)

Now thats one hell of a profit! I preferd the LC GTR's over the LJ's, the LC's had the nice stripe and not overdone/
Does Dalbertos old man have a few of these? I seen him recenty in a mag (Not sure which one) with a mint LC GTR.

The Dalbertos have a large car collection, they have one of every Brock model, all with the same build number, i think its 008. Im not sure what else they have but they seem to be able to find things, like the photos of the LC they showed my mate.

Ford made a ZC Fairlane with a factory fitted under bonnett blower attached.

The car is currently for sale in a car yard that specializes in Muscle and rare cars at Nerang on the Gold Coast.
Can't think of the name of the joint that it's at.

I have a picture somewhere of a dealer demo back in 1994, It was a ED XR6 with factory XR8 Sprint bodykit, Leather, And fully optioned, Im guessing it was a Dealer Principals car.

Recently I had a EB GLi V8 with Fairmont Ghia interior, I was told it was a ex employees car, You could really make some great combo's with the EB-ED's back in the 90's.

He did originally promise it to her but has just recently married for the first time at 58 years old and has promised it to his adopted son now.[rt]

Hopefully the marriage doesn't last. :p
