10 years has now passed since the death [V] of the great Gregg Hansford at Phillip Island (Gee time flies) at the wheel of the RPM Ford Mondeo [V][V][V]

When he signed on full time with DJR for 87 after doing the enduro's with DJR in 86, I thought we would finally get to see the full potential of Hansford, but with plenty of teething issues with the new Sierra's, Gregg struggled with pace in #18 & was replaced by John Bowe for 88.

Q. How many podioms did Hansford achieve in his short stint with DJR?

I think he was on 2 podioms.
Surfers 86 3rd and Bathurst 86 (Allthough this 3rd was eventally changed to 4th after checking lap charts)

Hansofrd finished fourth at Bathurst in 1986. He finished third at Surfers in that same year with Dick as well. The only other possibility of a podium may have been at Barbagallo in 1987, where the car was hooked up, like Dick's was. I just cannot remember the result.

Yep. 1.5 podioms for Gregg. The one in the Mustang at Surfers & the 1/2 a one at Bathurst 86.. I was happy for 10 minutes that year but it wasn't to be..I'm sure Jilly used to do the lap charts back then but someone screwed up!!

Well, the story went that it was more than just Jill's charts that had them in third outright...

SF, the race you mentioned at Barbagallo in 1987 was an absolute cracker and ironically it was actually Seto that won the event in the PJ Nissan. Dick finished second in the Sierra after serving a 1 week suspension from the previous round at Lakeside for shaving 40/1000ths of an inch off the Turbocharger Turbine wheel. At WA, Gregg Hansford had a seemingly endless battle with Larry Perkins which was absolutely riveting. From memory (and this is stretching it) Gregg finished this round in 6th place.
