Shocking!

The 1st report I heard/read said it was during a 'transport' - IIRC you are supposed to travel @ the posted speed limit during transports?

Great drive from Webber tonight to pick up 3rd after starting from 18th, also good to see someone else besides Vettel win.

Aparently they sent him out in Qualifying for the last session on hard tyres, . . .wtf? everyone else ran soft to qualify on, . . .

I think if the Red Bull Team see mark as the only threat to Vetel this season, they have just been served up a reminder that they can be beaten.

Webber will struggle to win this year, but what he's doing is showing everyone that the team is manipulating the result just as much as Ferrari did.

Kubica putting in the hours to get back to F1

"Renault may have to wait until mid-June for a clearer picture of Robert Kubica's Formula One prospects, even if their Polish driver is putting in the hours to come back from injury.

Kubica spent two months in hospital in Italy after suffering arm, leg and hand injuries in a life-threatening rally accident in early February.

The Pole, a hugely popular race winner considered a potential future champion, returned to his home in Monaco late last month.

"I spent an hour on the phone this week with him and he's obviously very relieved to be back home, relieved to get back to a normal life even if he has to work every day on the rehabilitation," Renault team boss Eric Boullier told reporters at the Turkish Grand Prix.

"He's working very hard, six to seven hours per day, and I think we should know more let's say by mid-June what to expect and when."

The Frenchman, who recruited Germany's Nick Heidfeld to stand in for Kubica, said the Pole's recovery must not be rushed.

"The injury was quite bad. Bones and muscles are easy to fix, if I may say this, but nerves are a different story.

"You need to be cautious in the development of this. So this is why they need to take time, do it properly and monitor and handle it properly."

Another strong rumour at the moment is that Webber is close to agreeing to terms for 2012 with Ferrari.

Webber lost the position off the dirty side of the track to Rosberg, but his overtake on Alonso to get back 2nd spot, was a good'un. He has shown to be failry racy this year, so far. Vettel is miles in front though...

I watched it, was one of the better F1 races I have seen in a long time, heaps of overtaking and the most ever pits stops in F1.

I have to say that last night's effort was worth staying up to see, until the last couple of laps. When Red Bull ordered webber to just stay behind a slowing Vettle. Webber was catching at a rapid rate and would have easily accounted for him in the last lap, vettle was "quivering" (that's the only way i can describe his movements) to try to stop Webber going past and trying to run him wide at every corner. Webber still had fuel and still had tyres, and Vettle was on reserve with no grip left.

What an insult to be put in your place so summarrily by the team, and after their announcement that they would never stoop to team orders when the Ferrari's were pinched, they radio Webber and tell him to cruise behind princess and accept his third.

Vettle is out in the lead by 100 points almost and it would not have hurt him to end up third rather than second. The press interview was also interesting with the winners account followed by vettle's bragging, and not too much at all from Webber, he was clearly pissed. [rt]

WEBBER AGAIN PAYS FOR POOR START

Formula One:
Mark Webber blew the start but recovered well to finish second at the Belgian Formula One Grand Prix overnight.

It was a familiar finish for the Aussie, who crossed the line looking at the rear of teammate Seabastian Vettel's car.

Vettel, who started from pole, strengthened his overall lead to a whopping 92 points in the drivers' championship with just seven races remaining.

"What a race!" he told his Red Bull team over the race radio at the end.

Webber agreed, saying he believed it to be Red Bull's best-ever weekend at a Grand Prix.

McLaren's Jenson Button started way down in 13th spot, but he caught Ferrari's Fernando Alonso near the end to take third place.

Webber's hollow victory

Webber barely said a word after team orders forced him to pass Vettle for the win to maximise the team's honours this year. Webber had said he did not want to win that way, he clearly has something of a disadvantage in car speed to Vettle at ever race and when Vettle pulle dover and almost came to a stop (in F1 terms) in front of him webber was forced to pass. His "Thanks boys" was his only reserved response to the sham victory. this must have been a most unpleasant year for Webber.

Yet ....... IIRC - he's signed with them again for next year [sh]

They're still the car to beat on track, even if in my opinion they have knobbled webber consistantly to ensure their boy wins. No Brainer, be part of a winning team or be looking for the rear of the field?[bgn]
