Rumours going around that Fabian Coulthard may be in a DJR/TP car next year.

Ambrose no certainty of driving full time next year.

One can only hope. If he were going to re-sign with BJR he would have done so by now you would think. They've been trying to sign him back up since last Dec.

I just thought it was about the number for next year's new car - with the way things seem to be going I thought it was more likely to be Car 54! :)

Apparently Coulthard to DJRTP is signed sealed and delivered with Reynolds taking over at BJR with Waters going to Prodrive.

Anyone have any inside goss? are we running two cars next year or just the one? would be a massive shame and waste of resources I would think to see Scott Pye shown the door.

[h=1]Penske: No deals are done for 2016[/h]

Roger Penske says DJR Team Penske is yet to make a final decision on its driver line-up for next year, despite the heavy speculation that Fabian Coulthard is bound to move in 2016.
British born kiwi, Fabian Coulthard has been heavily linked with a DJR Team Penske seat for several months, with paddock rumours suggesting that Coulthard now has a pre-agreement with the Queensland squad.
As there is a clause in Coulthard’s current contract with Brad Jones Racing which blocks him to formally sign a proper agreement until October. This makes it oblivious that Coulthard will sign a contract with DJR Team Penske after the Gold Coast 600.
While it seems incredibly likely that Coulthard will head to DJR Team Penske next year, boss Roger Penske told Motorsport.com that no formal agreements are in place just yet.
“We’ve talked to a number of drivers, but we haven’t made a final decision yet on what we’re doing. We’ve got Scott Pye, and we’re racing with Marcos [Ambrose], we’re going to start the long-distance races. So that’s going to be the big question – who we look for once we see what Marcos is going to do [next year],” said Penske.
Regardless of whether or not DJR Team Penske expands to two cars next year, it now seems unlikely that Marcos Ambrose will make a full-time return to racing next season.
However, Penske still refuses to rule the Tasmanian out, adding that the team will give him a proper chance to decide what his future holds before announcing any of their 2016 drivers.
“I think he really wants to see where he is based on [the endurance races],” Penske told Motorsport.com.
“Our car is better, we’ve had some decent finishes, we’ve made a lot of progress. It’s kind of been a whole year for us to get our feet on the ground.”

Where there is smoke, there usually is fire. I know DJR have come out and said no formal agreement at this point, but that does not mean terms etc have not been agreed to, and a handshake has not been done, waiting for the correct time to sign to comply with existing contracts..
Coulthard would be at the top DJR'sr list based on his current form and DJR Team Penske is well on their way towards the pointy end of the grid which would make them Coulthards best chance of a championship.
If you watch V8 life, Coulthards girlfriend makes no secret of the point he is being under paid at BJR. So if hes not getting the right cash, they cant provide him with a front running car week in week out, why would he stay?

Just finished reading the article in AA. If all true (keeping in mind it's Auto Action) then driver movements will possibly have a bigger effect on team success, across the field, than it has in years.

Fabian to DJRTP is actually welcome, as far as I'm concerned, although he can't sign until the end of the season because of contractual legalities with BJR. This aside, it would appear to be a done deal, with speculation about a second car/REC not being set in stone at this point. A more competitive DJR car and driver combo actually challenging for regular podiums, and running at the pointy end pretty regularly is something we have all been missing, and hoping for, for some time now. Scott Pye has shown flashes of success, but things just haven't clicked and perhaps a shakeup in the DJRTP driver lineup could see fortunes improve.

Fabian is a frontrunner, and apart from driving talent he knows how a car should feel, and be set up, to be a contender. If they do reclaim the team REC from 'Super Black', and run the second car, I would wonder who will fill the seat. Although, I also have to say that Pye in the second car wouldn't be a bad idea, as I'm sure having Fabian as lead driver could very well see an improvement in Pye's results.

Here's hoping for something to be cheering about in 2016.

Talk that Phil Keed will join djrtp next year and possibly the first sign that Fabs is also on his way. We definitely need some personnel in the engineering department

[h=1]Coulthard to DJRTP is almost certain[/h]

  • September 22, 2015
Fabian Coulthard is almost certain to move to the QLD based Ford team for the 2016 season with Coulthard’s race engineer has signed a deal to move to DJR Team Penske at the end of the year.
News Corp Australia received information that the British born kwi has brought a property near the DJR Team Penske’s headquarters in Queensland which is another indication that the sport’s most wanted driver will leave Brad Jones Racing at the end of the year.
A close source to DJR Team Penske confirmed to V8 Superfans that Coulthard’s engineer Phil Keed has signed a deal that will see him quit BJR and move to the team co-owned by American billionaire Roger Penske. Which is believed to see Coulthard to follow on a rich deal worth that will see him lead the Penske revolution under the direction of his trusted engineer Keed.
“He [Coulthard] hasn’t signed a contract,’’ said a source close to the DJR Team Penske negotiations.
“But I would certainly say that negotiations are fairly advanced. I think something will happen in the not too distant future.’’
Coulthard will become the new look team’s No. 1 driver with Penske powerbrokers confident the Kiwi race winner and championship contender is the man to turn the rich outfit into a V8 force. Ambrose has not indicated whether or not he wants to return to full-time driving and the future of Pye remains unclear with the team still waiting for the young gun to prove he has the goods to become a top-line star.
DJR Team Penske haven’t ruled out running two cars next year in an addition that would give Ambrose an full-time driving option in 2015.
“We would want to run two lead cars if we went to two,’’ Ryan Story told FOX SPORTS.
“We don’t want to have a lead car and a support car. We would want to have two competitive cars with their own identity that are in the championship hunt.’’
