Although old surfers was a good track,Lakeside is My favourite. Because my Family lives at Caboolture and so have I, on and off over the years it was just a 15 minuet drive down the road or Ten the back way??????????Doug might be able to help me out here? Sports Cars!I think the guys name was Barry Singleton,At one meeting they opened the gate to the pits under Dunlop Bridge and He was diceing with the champ from SA in a Chokito sponsored car.It was late in the day,sun in their eyes comming down main straight and didn`t see chequed flag. Big crash under Dunlop as 1 or 2 of them smashed into open wheeler turning into pits. What about Ingall and Dj Side by Side through the Kink! That was awsome.Forgive Me but so was standing at the kink, late Friday afternoon,No one else on the Track Listening to every gear change of Jimmy Richards driving the ass off the Volvo.About 10 Laps.

Lakeside is a great track as is Surfers Paradise.
I've been lucky enough to turn some hot laps in a 351 4 speed XD that i owned once and in my XWGT.

Even did a hot lap of the Indy track early one morning in the XWGT when the mate was out on the piss and had the security key with him.
Had to drive from the straight before Barter card corner all the way around to the ANA hotel(travel Lodge i think these days) to get out.
So got to drive all but one corner and at speed because i was very late for work

I Didn`t go,But thanks to my Brother who was greatfull enough to phone me up today and let me know where he was and then email these pic across

it was hard to wipe the smile off my face this morning as i drove down to the entrance to Lakeside Raceway. After many years of political bullshit, the picturesque little track hosted a small club day. It was like stepping back 10-15 years, not much had changed. The paint still chipped, cracked and peeling on the bent and twisted armco fencing. The patched up and somewhat bumpy track surface is still what i remember the last time they race here (2001 i think). This place has character. As soon as i browsed the small pit area and the first laps in anger were being run, i headed to the famous kink in the main straight. The bumps are still there, with quite a few cars dancing through there on the limit of adhesion. As the fist bunch of cars raced past, i was engulfed with the smell of racing, and i loved it. It was a very relaxed and well organised day, i could walk the entire pit paddock and outer spectating area without any hassles. Below are a few shots of the meeting today, these are to show what the track has come up like and the mixed bag of cars that made the meeting.

a keen eye might just spot a certain high profile engineer

thanks to all those people behind the scenes fighting for this circuit over the last 5 or so years

Was at Lakeside on Sunday and was good to be there! Very supprised to see quite a few people there sitting along main straight, down into hungry corner, just before the bridge, bottom of the hill onto main straight and up to the gate and of course at the kinck. All had Smiling faces. A few prangs, slides and blow ups. Was one very interesting XD with TRU BLUE 17 Prudential Insurance and all the other decals. Looked very originall, Sounded nice and smooth but quiet of course with noise restrictions in place. "Apparently" after talking to a few bods out there. 4 Mill will be spent on the old joint with resurfacing and fencing at the end of the year. But before then will be a few more race days including a small endurance race that was going to be held at QR. Next race will be in about 1 month. They are looking for flaggies!!!

CASHMERE driver Peter Lawrence will be on the starting grid when championship racing returns to Lakeside Park next week.
Lawrence will line-up in his 1978 Alfa Romeo GTV for the Alfa Romeo East Coast Challenge the feature race of Lakeside?s relaunch on July 4.
It is part of the Queensland Racing Drivers Championship, which is the first major competition to be held at the Pine Rivers track since it reopened.
To date only club and corporate events have been staged at Lakeside, which closed in 2001 after almost 40 years of racing.
At its peak some of the biggest names in motor sport, such as John Surtees, Peter Brock and Dick Johnson, sped around the circuit.
But with million of dollars of upgrades to the track and facilities complete, the gates will swing open to championship racing.
In fact such has been the response to the relaunch meeting, it is now being held over two weeks July 4-5 and 11-12.
``The history that the track holds is amazing,?? said Lawrence. ``It was sad to see it shut in 2001, but it?s great to see it re-opened. Hopefully it stays that way for a long time.??
Lawrence, who first drove around Lakeside 10 years ago and again this year in a club event, started racing in 2007 after being encouraged by friends in the Alfa Romeo Owners Club of Queensland. He was named rookie of the year.
After taking a break last year, he is back and will face about 30 cars, most from Queensland and New South wales, in the Alfa Romeo East Coast Challenge.
``It?s treated like a State of Origin between Queensland and New South Wales Alfa Romeo clubs,?? said the Caboolture grader operator.
``The NSW boys have taken the last two years so we?re very keen for a win at Lakeside.??
Entry is $10 at the gate. Lakeside Raceway is on Lakeside Rd, off Narangba Rd, Kurwongbah.

Ended up at lakeside last Saturday afternoon & was really pleased to see what a great job they have done with the whole complex. The new bituman looked fantastic and about 2sec a lap quicker? A tunnell under the track ( I drove through & just ) about 10m up from bridge. Lots of open shops & toilets. Allowed to walk around & have a good look in the pits as well as the open spectator area,up on top of the bank at the end of the straight looking back at the kink:D There was a Dj & Jf mini lakeside museum inside. Great looking Solo sponsored controll tower. Almost the entire pit area is under roof & anyone been there before might remember bumping your way around the side between the golf course and track. Well not now! It`s almost a 2 lane highway. $20 Bucks 4 2 Adults & 2 kids with Lakes & 20 acres to roam around on with racing cars going around with lots of things to do was VALUE 4 MONEY! Well done to Qld raceway & Tetley for such a tob job!
