Here is a question I post to you all, Have you ever seen Steve drive as well in a opening to a season?
After following DJR for so many years I can not recall a better start to a season.
Is it all to do with the driver training earlier in the year in the UK?
I hoping Bezzy will be on the ball come October at Bathurst as Steve is driving so well[bw]

YES!

Steve has never had a car to match his ability mate, There was nothing wrong with his driving last year and from what I recall he got off to a great start but was let down by his pit stops & other drivers taking him out and when Courtney stuck the knife in that was the end of the road.

The only season I can draw any real parallel to is 2001 when Steve showed speed and was pretty consistent too. Strong results at Adelaide, Calder and Canberra, and of course the memorable QLD 500 victorysaw Junior finish 5th in the series.

Really hopeful of a podium soon. Although the VIC teams test at Winton, the QLD teams are always pretty strong there.

Hopefully DJR can carry this car speed into Bathurst Rob, Wonder if they can bolt the donk from the 99 Radisich/Ellery Au in it [crackup]

Could it be that Steve is racing for his future? By that I also mean DJRs future. With Jim Beam and Ford not locked in for next year his results could well determine the future of the whole team. With only one REC and the pending sale of the series, it looks like interesting times once again for DJR and us supporters.

I've got everything crossed.

I am hoping that Steve can bring his speed to Bathurst, I think this will be a good year at the mountain for Steve.

I'll have one of them!

Jim Beam can't complain about the exposure this year and you would think, be very happy with how things are going and the other sponsors like Norton would be seriously looking.
Off to have a JmBeam & Coke![bc]

I wish I liked the stuff but it's a Bundy for me and I'll still cheer him on!!
He's going good.

At least you support a sponsor that is in the Game and we are all winners.
Yes Gery, he is going well, "BUT" so is the whole Team by the looks of it to me.
I am as happy with the team as i have ever been and just read the artical on Malcom this morning to convinced me even more.

Goose Bumps!

Taken from Bigpond:
While disapproving of FPR’s performance, Styring said that he had been impressed by Jim Beam Racing, and in particular Steve Johnson.
“When James (Courtney) departed, the leadership role was largely left to Steve and he has done a solid job. I think he has done a great job of putting his head down and getting on with the job and I’m very happy with how he is progressing.”[y][y][y]

Good to see Steve getting the recognition from the Ford boss, pity the team that gets all the $'s from Ford can't live up to anyone's expectations. They are becoming embarrassing, every year they promise to be bigger and better only to spend half the year trying to sort out their cars.

That's the problem. Bigger isn't always better. You would think that they would just concentrate on their 2 cars and have them regularly at the front before having customer cars.
DJR really help Webb along last year but he has struggled this year but DJR have rushed out to make their team bigger. They have concentrated on getting there 2 cars going forward

No more excuses for FPR, i would expect if the results don't get a whole lot better by years end David Richards will give a few key people the kyba pass.
Clearly they have good cars, Cambell Little, good drivers, loads of cash and somehow still manage to be one of the most inconsistant teams in pit lane. Tim Edwards won't be there next year unless they pull off a miracle and win the championship or at least Bathurs and Phillip Island.................................oh they can't win bathurst, the top step of the podium has been reserved for Steve Johnson this year!

Interesting that you guys are ill impressed with the factory ford team.....the factory Holden team are slightly better, but aren't much chop either. What I think emerges from that is......$$$$ isn't the solution to V8 success. I suspect that risk, support, brains, ingenuity and BIG BALLS might have something to do with it.

Vodaphone have most of these elements, but we won a championship last year against all the cashed up teams because we had all the elements above, in folds!!

This thread is about Steve, and I think he's doing a great job this year. I've already said to DJR-Fan that I can't afford to go to Bathurst this year, but I am fast trying to just find a way to get there........Something very very cool could happen there....and it seems more likely by the round.....I don't bare the thought of missing it....if it happens, my work colleagues might not see me until the Wednesday after.
