New Pink & V8 Supercar ad...

Have I got my wires crossed??? I know the ad was pretty much aired for the first time last night, but wasn't there supposed to be a season V8SC launch in Syd last night with all the teams etc??
If so, wtf is the coverage. Absolutely nothing in media, print, TV, radio.....if the launch really was last night, makes you wonder why they bother chucking a s.....load of money at an ad compaign.

its a great ad for v8 supercars and i will get more people spectators to the events

Those people don't have to know who else is in the ad.
The target audience is not the "died in the wool" motor racing fan as those fans are already in the fold.
The target audience is a totally different demographic that they are trying to attract to the show.
You and I might be happy with some great race footage but others need different incentives to come and have a look.

agree Gerry, its a bit like the old Tina Turner League adds from the late 80's, it doesnt matter who is in them.
I have had guys and girls from work come up to me in the last 3 days and comment on it already and how cool it is, this can only be good for V8 Supercars in general.

DJR-FAN and I had a few beers together last night, and mentioned the "launch". Here in regional coastal NSW we have received nothing in the way of news of the "launch", so whatever they are doing to promote the season, including the $5M ad, it isn't working.
I am not just talking about mainstream media either.....Speedcafe and others have not given any coverage of a launch in Syd. There's not even a hit on Google for it...it just takes you to the ad.

There really wasn't much hype at all, was there even in Brisbane, it didn't even make the news i don't think.

I finally found something from another forum site by chance. This stuff also includes some Youtube footage from QR this week. Have a look.

I probably shouldn't say that sorta thing but honestly, having only been involved again with V8s recently, I think DJR-FAN's comments about "notions of grandeur" are right on....this bloke thinks he's Eccelstone. He's clearly not because mainstream media couldn't give a f... about it. All they reported on was how much Pink was paid for the ad.
