It's hard enough finding a decent viewing spot now, this will only make it worse and make the track more like a street circuit.

Can't imagine it ever happening, can you imagine the cost on a track that size and that undulating ? someone's tugging it . . . bigtime. . .[jk]

I was right there when the Everlast VL and the EB came together at Reid Park when I was a kid, A small amount of debris came from the cars but none made it over the fence.
I hope they don't go ahead with it, But this is Bathurst Council we are talking about [rt]

Hey wait a minute, didn't the great man himself, [bw], asked for this to happen after a mishap with a rock in 1980?

Gotta say it probably will happen . But I think it will only be in the main spectator area's. Unfortunately in this very litigious world we cannot escape having to cater for the people whom don't think and for the people whom will never accept that it is no-ones fault when @#$% happens and an accident turns nasty. Look at QR (last year?) when the mini rolled over the fence it hasn't been told to put up catch fencing as yet but it may happen...

I agree TS that was said in high emotion.
Fencing the track will ruin it for racers and fans. I hope the beancounters and the do gooders of motorsport leave it alone.

I'm afraid Snapper is right guys. Society is so risk averse and litigious nowadays its a matter of when, not if. Eventually, no one will be at the track because the viewing is shite

Unfortunately Aaron in this day and age we must work catering for the lowest common denominator. In some cases it is the person whom will sue you even though they clearly have not heeded the warnings. In others it is catering for the mentally deficient for whom no matter what they cannot see a problem until they have been hurt. The cynic in me want's to bring in the herd theory where if you do something stupid and hurt or kill yourself you have no-one to blame but yourself. think how much better life would be if we could just get rid of those imbiciles and live without the worry that you may be sued for someone else's mistake. Unfortunately the days of having a sign up warning that motorsport is dangerous no longer covers the promoters / Drivers / teams from the possibilities of being sued and possibility of losing everything.
OK Rant Over.
Ivan:)
