That's an interesting observation Gerry, which probably has merit. I just wonder how different chassis can be given the controlled nature of the category and that although vodaphone keep floating to the surface, there's still only a couple of tenths in it. Might be time the rest of the field caught up.

My only concern is, are Vodaphone's results purely effort or is there significant difference in $$ invested? I fear the latter. Time to change change the enduro format back too, so they stop buying the key co drivers all the time.

Many times there's much more than "a couple of tenths" in it and the Vodafone cars don't seem to "go off" during the race (is that driver related?)

I figure there'd be much more co-operation with like minded teams s well, after all it would be in Ford's best interests.

Ford, FPR and SBR had a sit down a few years ago. It was decided that Frosty and Gizzy would swap cars at there practice days. Gizzy flew down, jumped in and did about 5 laps ,came in and told them the differences. They did not get him back in. They got what they wanted. 2 days after Frosty flew up and SBR got payback. They gave him about 5 laps and the rest of the day he sat around.
I like frosty but I got no time or his team. If they worked with SBR like Ford wanted they would have learned something and could have won more than stuff all. Frosty needs to bail if he wants a win more than once every blue moon. If his missus was not so full on in the pits when the boys were trying to work he would be still at SBR and would have a championship and a lot more by now.

I don't think so, he's not a kee wee

Ross and Jimmy are hard to work for , they were not really Team players at DJR and I see no reason to believe they would be as Ford team members either.[bgn]

There is a lot more than tenths in it outside of qualifying and it;s percentages all over the car, less tyre degredation, better fuel use, higher top speed, more power, better drive, better braking, all those little fractions are why T888 have so many poles and so many wins.

Thats whu I call BS to the electrical problems that wiped Lowndes out for the Gold Coast round, he was knobbled. If he'd run around 5th for those races he'd be champion right now, a five time champion, but not a three time Vodaphone champion, just my opinion though.:p

And thats why I agree with what Spud had to say about Whincup the other day - that he is only the champion due to his car.... put him in the Lucas Dumbrell car and he comes 25th

Would seem logical. From a complete nobody when it comes to set ups etc. we constantly see FPR qualifying well and struggling a bit with race pace ( well compared to 888 ) and the Giz qualifying terribly but making his way through the race. If The Giz qualified better he would be on the podium every race.
FPR still seem to struggle with some basics to I reckon. Sandown or Tassie, sorry I can't remember, Frosty was being held up by Dumbrell and then followed him into the pits, two more flyers and he propably would have jumped him in the stop. JMO.

I see FPR have taken delivery of their first COTF chassis from Pace already, so they can be ready for the first test day in August. Does anyone know when djr will be getting one?

Well so far it looks like CoTF has cost a squillion in redundant cars and parts AND widened the gap between the haves and have nots. The only saving grace is that there are now four manufacturers involved (sort of!). With the DJR cars 2- 2.5 seconds off the pace it looks like being a long year of playing catch up with no budget. Hello Audi or BMW..........

When you read this post and look at the date, you can see how much behind the 8 ball DJR are with developing these cars.

Yes, a long year indeed, hope DJR can ride it out and not go under before they can attract some serious sponsorship money

Will be interesting to see how the teams who where caught out at the GP will go in the next round.
funny how all the cars "caught out" with the ignition timing anomally where mostly 888 associated!
although it was odd that only two of the four nissans where?
do they have different spec motors between the Jack backed cars and the Norton backed cars ?
Or did they only check half the cars.
In the words of a past V8 champ "I want the whole bl**dy field checked!"
Had to laugh when the powers that be said it gave no advantage to these teams.
No sir! the red bull cars are no faster, the tekno cars are not faster!
Had my rant so can take a breath now! [sh]

From what I read earlier in the week the four Nissans were running different spec engines between the cars.
