Dick won a NON Championship race at the old Adelaide G.P.Track.Was there a sneaky switch between races from 302 to 351??[^]

Are you talking about the Muzzie in 85 where DJ & Brockie in the VK had one of those classic battles???

I'm sure Dick would have loved to have a 351 in the Muzzie or even fuel injection on the 302 but no, there was no sneaky change to a 351 at Adelaide in 1985!!

That's been the talk at times, that the Mustang's ring tolerances were a little more than the standard 302, but if you look at the car's form during the 1985 enduroes, there is no real reason to label its performance at Adelaide as suspicious: the car blitzed them at Oran Park, and then Sandown, until it busted silly things, and Bathurst was really lost by an oil cooler and an improperly-seated left front wheel - the thing was a jet after the August 1 homologation update... but they all caught up for 1986...

Pity that Ford wouldn't help them out for the start of 85 though Henry as that package that #17 debuted at OP would have taken some beating through the 85 ATCC.

Yep,don`t know what year but remember Murry Walker saying that`s the price u pay for leading the race so far in front that we hardly saw much TV coverage. And it was the race with Brock, didn`t something happen to brock?Yeah........If only Ford had helped out? I would love to find a 1,2 pic somewhere of the two muzzies. With Johnson name on one windscreen & Perkins on the other.Have seen it before and with todays technology, could place the cars closer togeather.NOS would have been nice!I Liked the white wheels.

"1985 - the Great Race", has a photo from practice with DIck and Larry running line astern out of Murrays in the two cars.

There were plans afoot to have 18 race, with Allan Moffat and Michel Delcourt aboard: Palmer Tube Mills were in, Channel 7 (for whom Moff was working) was in... and LP vetoed it, on the grounds that the focus of the team would be diluted... and that the exhaust system on 18 wasn't strictly legal... Still, LP gave the second Mustang a gallop in Hardies Heroes, putting in quite a performance... but his efforts were well-and-truly eclipsed when Dick went berserk on the second run...

Would be fairly obvious.
Even if DJ used a 351 Windsor they are still about 3 or so inches wider than the 302.
It would also need a different exhaust.
These days it would be a lot easier with all the stroker kits that are available now
