My Name is Shane,

I started my apprenticeship at Evans Deakin Industries in 1982 as an apprentice Boilermaker.

After completing my apprenticeship I worked for a number of companies and during that period I attained my advanced trade qualifications as a certified Pressure Equipment Welding Supervisor. In 1990 while I was studying for my advanced trade qualification I won a trade scholarship the WTIA Linde National Tradesperson of the Year and in 1991 I went to Germany to learn how the Germans do heavy engineering and in the process I got to visit some of the best engineering companies in the world.
I completed nine years (1982 – 1991) in the Army Reserve with the 2nd/14th Light Horse Regiment QMI, but work and study commitments forced me to make the decision to leave the Army Reserve.

In 1995 I got my first position as a Welding Supervisor for World Services & Constructions and from there have advanced to my current position as Project Engineer/Welding Specialist for Downer EDI Engineering. In my current position I have been all over Australia doing major projects on major infrastructure projects such as power stations, petrochemical plants, oil and gas, etc.

Outside of work my personal interest is being the current President of the XR6 & XR8 Club of Qld which I have a great deal of passion for this Club. The club has given both Kerri and I so many good times and great life experiences like meeting and having opportunity to get to know people like Ross Stone from Stone Brothers Racing, Dan Bowden from Bowden’s Own Car Care to name a few as well as the many great club cruises and friends we have made over the years.
