James Courtney posted the third fastest practice time for the combined sessions around the tight challenging circuit with a 57.52 lap behind Championship Leader Jamie Whincup and Wilson Security Racings Fabian Coulthard.
"The car had good pace around here and while we had a few mechanical issues during the various practice sessions today, we managed to get them sorted and post a quick time in the last practice session this afternoon" said Courtney after the race.
Courtney had a power steering issue during practice which cut into his track time after posting the fastest time in Part B Practice. With some fast to be done by The Team, Courtney went back out in the final practice session to improve his time to end up third for the day.
"We have a good bank of tyres for qualifying tomorrow and the car has responded really well to this track. The boys have again done a great job in setting up the car for this weekend".
Steven Johnson was also happy with the pace of #17 during the early practice sessions but had to contend with an engine issue that pulled him out of the last practice session early.
"There was an issue with the engine so we brought the car in and replaced some components only to then isolate the real problem in the crank trigger. It can be frustrating but the car had good speed and we also have a good choice for tyres for tomorrows qualifying." said Johnson after the race. Johnson was fifth fastest in the Practice B session today and ended up 13th after the combined sessions.
"You are never happy to finish a session early but we have both cars in the Top 15 and are confident for a strong qualifying tomorrow" said Johnson.
Qualifying tomorrow kicks off at 9.50am (local time) with Race 23 starting at 12.50pm.
